We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion or national and ethnic origin in administration of our educational policies, admissions policies, financial aid programs or other school-administered programs.
Oakhill enrolls students who demonstrate that they can benefit from a challenging academic program. Oakhill students are expected to be self-motivated and highly ethical. They must value achievement and respect their fellow students and faculty.
Prospective Student Procedures
Oakhill Day School is a community that offers a challenging, supportive and rewarding education focused on the academic, emotional, physical and social needs of each student. Oakhill serves families that understand that the investment they make now will provide their child the best chance of success in the future.
Oakhill Day School seeks to enroll new students from Toddler (Age 2) through Middle School who demonstrate they can contribute to the mission of the school. Oakhill focuses on admitting students that enjoy a challenging learning environment. Oakhill is not able to serve students with severe learning or behavioral difficulties.
In evaluating candidates, the admission committee takes into consideration:
- Aptitude and curiosity
- Academic achievement, readiness and motivation
- Social and emotional development
- Interests, talents and extracurricular contributions
- Family support, of both their children and the school
Admission is contingent upon the existence of a vacancy to all grades on the basis of an entrance examination, previous school records, teacher recommendations, campus visits and personal interviews.
After reading the process, please call or email Leah Gipe to schedule a tour of the school.
Step One:
Schedule an appointment to tour the Oakhill Day School campus. During your tour, you will have a chance to observe student life at Oakhill, see our facilities, and learn about our outstanding curriculum. To schedule an appointment or to obtain the dates for upcoming Open House events, please call Leah Gipe at (816) 436-6228.
Step Two:
Once you have toured Oakhill Day School, the next step for admissions is to fill out an application for admission and submit the completed online application with the student's school records* and two letters of recommendation.** Applications must be accompanied by a non-refundable application fee of $50.00 in order to be considered.
*Student records should be submitted for students that have previously attended an educational program.*
** Letters of recommendation are kept completely confidential and the teacher writing the letter should mail them directly to Oakhill Day School. Letters of recommendation are required for students applying for First through Eighth Grade and may be required for younger students.**
To receive the Student Records Release form and Teacher Recommendation forms please contact Leah Gipe at (816) 436-6228.
Financial aid can be applied for through Fast Financial Aid. (Click here to read more about the financial aid process.)
Step Three:
The Admissions Director will then meet with you to schedule a Student Visit Day. As part of the admission process, new students are required to visit Oakhill Day School and spend time with our students and teachers. During the Student Visit Day, students will be administered an assessment test, which will test their knowledge. This visit and assessment gives the student a chance to experience Oakhill's program and allows our staff to get to know your child better and determine the fit of the student with the school.
Step Four:
When all of the steps have been completed the Admissions Committee will meet to decide on an enrollment decision. When the decision is made, the family will be notified and provided with information on how to complete enrollment.
