Oakhill Day School offers students of all ages the opportunity to participate in organized sports.
Panthers on the Prowl Program
Our athletics program begins in Early Childhood and Lower School with our “Panthers on the Prowl” program. We offer this program in both fall and spring.
Each Panthers on the Prowl activity is four weeks long. Practices are one day a week, and meet for one-hour. Practices focus on learning the basic fundamentals of the sport through drills. Skills learned are applied through scrimmages and games.
Lower School Sports
While there are many opportunities for our Lower School students to participate in Panthers on the Prowl, Kindergarten through fourth grade students may also participate in basketball in the winter. Our basketball program focuses on students learning the basic fundamentals of the sport, while putting their skills into game like situations.
The Kindergarten through second grade basketball program participates in the Nativity League while the third and fourth grade basketball program participates in the Parochial League. In each of these leagues the teams play eight game seasons, with one to two games per week. The third and fourth grade teams participate in a postseason league tournament at the end of the season.
Fourth Grade/Middle School Sports
Students entering fourth grade have the opportunity to participate in athletics at the Middle School level. In the fall, fourth through eighth grade students have the opportunity to participate in Cross Country, with fifth through eighth grade girls able to participate in Girls Volleyball. Cross Country participates in the Parochial League while Girls Volleyball participates in the Metropolitan Private School League.
In the winter we offer Basketball for both boys and girls. Both teams participate in the Metropolitan Private School League level play. In the spring we offer Track and Field for our fourth through eighth grade students, and Boys’ Volleyball for the fifth through eighth grade boys. The Track team participates in the Parochial League while the Boys’ Volleyball team participates in the Metropolitan Private School League.
