Oakhill Day School provides multiple opportunities for toddler through eighth grade students to participate in after-school athletics/activities throughout the school year. There is a program for all ages!

Panthers on the Prowl Athletics (toddler - fourth grade)

Lower School Athletics (kindergarten - third)

Intermediate School Athletics (fourth - fifth)

Middle School Athletics (sixth - eighth)

Toddler through eighth grade athletic program information and flyers will be sent out prior to the start of each season. Practice information (dates/times) can also be found by visiting the athletic calendar prior to the start of the season. Game schedules will be released and added to the athletic calendar as soon as they are available from the league. Pre-Participation Sports Physical (4th - 8th Grade ONLY):

Prior to participating in athletics here at Oakhill each 4th - 8th grade student must have an updated sports physical on file (School Doc) here at Oakhill. Students without a valid/updated sports physical on file will not be allowed to participate until that is completed. Beginning in the fall, 2021 sports physicals will now be valid for two-calendar years from the date they were performed. Click link below if you are needing to download a form.\

"Panthers on the Prowl" Athletics

Students at Oakhill get involved in athletics at a young age (Toddler/Early Learners), many students begin their athletic careers at Oakhill by getting involved in one of the "Panthers on the Prowl" athletic programs.

Toddler through fourth grade students have the opportunity to participate in these athletic programs in both the fall and spring. Each program is designed to work on developing an understanding of the game, along with some basic fundamental skills. Participants will be active in drills and fun games on a weekly basis. Each program lasts three to four weeks, meeting one day per week for 30-minutes to 45-minutes.

 

Lower School Athletics

Oakhill students in kindergarten through fourth grade have the opportunity to participate and compete in our lower school basketball program. Practices begin late November/early December.

Each program is designed to work on developing the students understanding of the game, along with their basic skills and fundamentals of basketball. Building upon the skills each athlete possesses, and helping them grow and improve their game are a key component of each program.

The Oakhill kindergarten - first grade basketball teams play 3 on 3 and are co-ed. Teams consists of 4 - 6 players total. These teams participate in our very own Oakhill Day School League developmental league. Each team will play a total of 6 - 7 games. Games are on Saturday morning at the Oakhill Gymnasium beginning in January.

The Oakhill second grade boys and girls basketball teams participate in the Pius League at St. Pius X High School, just down the road from Oakhill. This is not a coed league, students will be divided into second grade boys and second grade girls teams. Each team will play a total of 6 - 7 regular season games. Following the conclusion of the regular season, each team will compete in the Pius League single-elimination post-season tournament.

The Oakhill third and fourth grade boys and girls basketball teams participate in the Pius League at St. Pius X High School, right down the road from Oakhill. Oakhill students are separated into boys and girls teams at this age level. Each team will play a total of 6 - 7 regular season games. Following the conclusion of the regular season, each team will compete in the Pius League single-elimination post-season tournament.

Cheerleading

Prekindergarten through fourth grade students have the opportunity to participate in the Oakhill Panthers cheerleading program. The cheer program is designed to introduce children to some of the basic cheer motions, cheers, and stunts; what each child does will be based on their ability level to ensure the child's safety. Throughout the winter the cheer team will cheer at many athletic events.

The prekindergarten/kindergarten team will cheer at the Holiday Sing, Tuesday Town Meetings and the Winter Sports Pep Rally. The first through fourth grade cheer squads will cheer at the pep rally, along with cheering at select fifth through eighth grade girls and boys home basketball games.

Fourth Grade/Middle School Athletics

Students entering fourth grade have the opportunity to participate in athletics at the middle school level. In the fall, third through eighth grade students may participate in cross country, with fifth through eighth grade students participating in girls volleyball. The cross country and girls volleyball teams participate in the Parochial League of Greater Kansas City.

In the winter, fifth through eighth grade students have the opportunity to participate and compete in basketball here at Oakhill. Oakhill teams all participate in the Parochial League of Greater Kansas City, the league consists of schools in the Kansas City Metropolitan area.

In the spring, middle school students may participate in track and field. Students in the fourth through eighth grade are welcome and encouraged to participate. The Oakhill track and field team participates in the Parochial League of Greater Kansas City, along with attending a couple other selected meets throughout the spring.
