Mask Policy Update - Effective October 25, 2021
The Covid Task Force evaluated internal data, as well as local data. We have seen a decline in cases in Clay and Platte Counties, and a decline at Oakhill (see covid page). We have made a slight adjustment to the 7th and 8th grade mask policy effective Monday, October 25th. All of these students are eligible for the vaccination, and approximately 64% are currently vaccinated.
We will implement situational masking within the classroom for 7th and 8th grades. Students will have the option of wearing a mask within the classroom setting as the situation allows. Teachers will have the freedom to set expectations such as wearing a mask during group work or close proximity projects. We will remain mindful of distancing when masks are not in use to reduce the need for quarantine if/when contact tracing is necessary.
The masking policy outside of the classroom space remains unchanged. Students will continue to wear masks outside of the classroom spaces, while indoors, including between classes or during times when any other grade levels mix (lunch, before and after school, buddy families, and panther parties).
If a positive case occurs while masks are optional, contract tracing will continue according to our current Covid policy.
As always, we will continue to monitor Covid cases and will not hesitate to return to masks should there be compelling reasons to do so.
