Investing in a private school education is a significant decision, and at Oakhill Day School, we understand the financial commitment it requires.
That’s why we’ve curated multiple options to help families make tuition more manageable while maximizing the value of their investment.
Here are four practical ways to make private school more affordable:
1. Take Advantage of Discounts and Scholarships
At Oakhill, we offer several opportunities to reduce tuition through discounts and scholarships:
-
Early Pay Discounts: Families who can pay tuition in full—or in two installments—are eligible for a discount. These savings apply after the deposit is made, providing an incentive for early payments. Keep an eye out for details on early-pay discounts in late November for the upcoming school year.
-
Merit Scholarships: Available to students from 3rd grade through 8th grade, these scholarships recognize academic achievement and other talents. They are renewable annually, and financial need is not a factor in eligibility. To find out more visit our scholarship page.
-
Sibling Discounts: Families with more than one child enrolled receive tuition reductions, with discounts increasing based on the number of siblings attending.
2. Earn Credits Through Referral Programs
Oakhill's Ambassador Program rewards families for sharing their school with others. When you refer a family and they enroll a full-day student, you’ll receive a $500 credit on your tuition account. Even partial-day enrollments provide a smaller credit, so every referral counts!
To make it even more rewarding, families with the most successful referrals during the school year can earn additional recognition. Learn more about the program and submit a referral through our Ambassador Referral Program.
3. Utilize Tax-Advantaged Savings Plans
Did you know you can use a 529 Savings Plan for private school tuition?
- The MOST 529 Plan: Missouri’s 529 Savings Program is a powerful tool for families looking to save for educational expenses while benefiting from tax advantages. Contributions to a 529 plan grow tax-free, and funds can be used for K–12 private school tuition, as well as college expenses.
This program has no age, time, or income limitations, making it an excellent option for families planning ahead or even those enrolling immediately. To learn more about the MOST 529 Plan, visit MOST529 Savings Plans for K-12th Tuition.
4. Explore Financial Assistance and Loan Options
For families needing additional support, Oakhill offers tuition assistance and access to private loans:
-
Tuition Assistance: Each year, Oakhill awards over $400,000 in tuition assistance to families. Unlike loans, these funds don’t need to be repaid, making them a valuable resource for many. Applications are processed through FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment, which ensures a secure and thorough analysis of financial need. Decisions regarding Tuition Assistance will be completed and granted by March 1 for all those who apply by the priority deadline in January; decisions on applications following that date are executed as quickly as possible. Applicants receive a letter of decision from the Assistance Committee.
-
Your Tuition Solution Private School Loans: This loan program provides competitive interest rates and flexible repayment terms, designed specifically for families with children in private school. There are no application fees or penalties for early repayment, making it a viable option for those who need short-term financial support.
