What the new building means to me …
Just as my position has organically grown into what it is today, I feel as if the Oakhill Middle School has grown in a similar way. Not too fast, at just the right speed.
In the past few years our Middle School has gone from four core teachers, to six core teachers, to finally eight core teachers along with our talented specialists. The staffing is just right and now we are going to have the facility to match. I have said it before, and I will say it again... I would put this middle school faculty up against any in the city. They are that good! They are knowledgeable in regards to their subject matter and they are passionate about middle school students. They are collaborative, innovative, and progressive… and they are about to be unleashed into a space with unlimited opportunities. Yes, it will be attractive - no question. But above and beyond, it will allow teachers to teach with the most up-to-date technology and imaginative collaborative spaces.
I am beyond excited to be working with Mrs. McCanles to lead this division into our new home. Our students and teachers will put the space to great use and we are all forever grateful to those that have helped make it happen!
Looking forward to a great 2016-2017 School Year in Middle School!
