Admissions Process

Oakhill Day School seeks to enroll students 18-months through Middle School who demonstrate the desire to contribute to the mission of the school. Oakhill focuses on admitting students that enjoy a challenging learning environment.

When evaluating candidates, the Admissions Committee takes into consideration:

  • Aptitude and curiosity
  • Academic achievement, readiness and motivation
  • Social and emotional development
  • Interests, talents, and extracurricular contributions
  • Family support, of both children and the school

Requirements differ per grade level.

We are excited to start the admissions process with you and your student. We will continue to accept applications for the 2019-2020 school year, as space is available.

Step One: Schedule a tour

We'd love parents to be able to visit our campus before applying. During your tour, you would have a chance to observe student life, see our facilities, and learn about our outstanding curriculum. However, due to the current closure of our school as a precautionary measure for the Covid-19 outbreak, our staff members are working remotely.

Step Two: Complete online application

The next step is to fill out the online Admissions application.

*For students already attending an early childhood program or are entering Grades 1 through Grade 8, please submit a copy of your student's school records and two letters of recommendation.

**Applications are considered once the $50 non-refundable application fee is received.

Step Three: Schedule a student visit

The Director will contact you to schedule a student visit day. 

As part of the admissions process, new students are required to visit Oakhill Day School and spend time with our students and teachers. During the Student Visit Day, Preschool through Eighth Grade will complete an assessment exam. The age of the applicant will determine the length of their visit and all visits for Preschool through Eighth grade will be at least one day during the school day. A second visit day is available upon request.

Pretoddler and Toddler applicants will participate in an after school student visit. A portion of their visit will be without parents, after which the parents are invited back into the visiting room.

Step Four: Admissions committee review

The Admissions Committee will meet to decide on an enrollment decision.  Once enrollment is accepted, Oakhill will notify prospective families and provide information on the final step to complete enrollment.


* Student records should be submitted for students that have previously attended an educational program.

** Letters of recommendation are kept completely confidential and the teacher writing the letter should mail them directly to Oakhill Day School.  Letters of recommendation are required for students applying for First through Eighth Grade and may be required for younger students.
