Preparing for Tomorrow
Oakhill Day School Class of 2016 Alum and Pembroke Hill High School rising Senior ~ Drake Potts has been busy this spring and summer! He was accepted for a Future MBA/Business course where he studied with a professor in the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. In his tutorial, he learned all about how business is changing as well as many different business tactics. He also had time to go to London one day for some shopping and museums. Drake had this to say about his experience:
"I was one of two people from the United States out of 30 people. There were Business, Medical, and Psychology courses going on that made up the 30 people. Egypt, China, Japan, Hungary, Germany, El Salvador, Saudi Arabia, England, and Dubai were just some of the countries represented there. In addition to what we were learning at the University, we would talk with people at the Business School for day trips. We talked with Steve Zimmer, a man who is creating a company to cure cancer, a specific process to be tested, and how the medical realm of business works. We also met with two Italians who were running a start-up, a mindfulness expert, students, admissions directors, and directors of the Oxford Foundry which is an institute for start-ups at Oxford. I also took with me an idea I had for a long time to Oxford, for an app called Nurture that I had worked on and researched extensively. At the end of the week, I was able to present the idea. My instructor became very interested in my idea and connected me with an Oxford MBA student to partner and invest with me, which I am working on currently. I also had great networking with other business people who wanted to speak to me after my presentation. I got some fantastic advice and will be putting it all into full action, with the help of my Oxford supporters and hopefully investors. At the end of the week, I also won the Future Bill Gates award. It was an amazing immersive experience that connected me with people from all over the world and gave me lasting advice and connections."
