As an engineer, I understand that buildings are more than just a space where people live and work. I know that a building’s environment directly affects the people, experiences, and potential found inside. That’s why I am excited to be a part of the Oakhill Day School South Campus project.

My involvement with Oakhill Day School began in 2000 when we enrolled my son, Jacob, in pre-kindergarten. Since then, my wife Haley and I have been actively involved with the school and have watched it develop and grow over the years. While I have enjoyed serving in a variety of volunteer roles, having the opportunity to be involved with the purchase and renovation of the Oakhill Day School South Campus has been an incredible experience. I never expected that the expansion would come together so quickly. After years of planning, making due with what we had, and coming up with stop-gap measures to address our lack of space and burgeoning enrollment, it’s hard to believe how everything worked out. Only 16 months ago we were first approached with the possibility of purchasing the Gladstone Office Building. Now, we are poised to almost double the size of the school from a real estate perspective. It’s an exciting time to be a part of the Oakhill community!

As a parent, I’m excited about the what the expansion means for Oakhill Day School and the positive impact it will have on the educational opportunities for our students. As an engineer designing elements for the new space, I’m proud of the features that Henderson Engineers has included that will help create the best possible learning environment for our students. Some of these features include new LED lighting, new heating and cooling systems with independent temperature controls in each classroom, a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, as well as WIFI, AV, security, and communications systems.

As we count down the days to the start of the 2016-2017 school year, I am beyond excited to see this project come together, and I look forward to seeing how the Oakhill Day School South Campus will make a positive impact in the lives of our students.
