On November 11 we hosted the our annual ODS Spelling Bee following the Scripps National Spelling Bee format for the eighth time. Twelve spellers from grades 3-8 competed and left the audience and judges in awe of their determination and skill! After 1.5 hours, 11 rounds, and 93 words, we proudly crowned our 2025 Spelling Bee Champion: Andrew Devitt, a 5th-grade student who spelled his way to victory! A big congratulations also goes to Grady Fletcher (3rd grade) for earning the runner-up position. We wish Andrew the best of luck as he prepares for the online semifinal bee in February, sponsored by Mid-Continent Public Library.
Thank you to everyone who helped make last night's bee a success! Thank you to Joy Jackson, our official pronouncer, who gives special time and effort into learning and pronouncing many challenging words for our spellers. Many thanks to our families for supporting the students and cheering them on! A job well done to our spellers who spent extra time studying and preparing for last night's event. Thank you to our judges, the spelling committee members, sound and set up team, and for all of those in attendance who supported the event. It was a team effort all around!
