Fun With Colors!

Fun With Colors!

One of our students’ favorite things to explore in Spanish is the world of colors. From a very young age, children know the names of colors and can find them in the world around them. So it is exciting for them to learn that colors have other names in other languages. With our youngest students, we focus on the three primary colors–playing games with movements to anchor the words. They love getting a turn to try to say the word in Spanish and hold the pokey ball!

Each year, more colors are added to their repertoire. We use them in many different ways in the Spanish classroom. My Pre-K students have been working hard to answer the question “Que color es? (What color is this?)” with the appropriate Spanish word. They will also get to play a color matching memory game this year that is a fan favorite all the way through Lower School.
