It isn't just a craft!

It isn't just a craft!

Early childhood teachers tend to frown at the term "crafts" when referring to activities done in the classroom.  What may look like just a craft has many benefits. Our well-planned activities are more than just a fun craft for children; they are an educational tool for their overall development. Through creative expression, young children engage in tasks that foster physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth. These activities have many benefits that play a crucial role in shaping their developmental skills. They not only foster creativity and self-expression but also support fine motor development, cognitive growth, emotional well-being, social skills, and language development. As children engage in these creative activities, they build essential skills that will benefit them in school and throughout life.

Next time you are in the early childhood hall, stop and take a look at one of our displays. You will find a brief description of the activity as well as what the purpose was.  You may be surprised how many areas of development are covered in one project!
