Supporting Each Other Isn't a 9-5 Job

One of the things people love most about Oakhill is the sense of community and family. Everyone knows each other and supports each other, and that consideration doesn't stop at 4:00 on Friday.

Last weekend, Oakhill Wellness Counselor Abby Pavlisin coordinated and carried out the third annual Carey's Denim Dash, a 5k in honor of Mrs. P's sister, Carey. The funds raised by Carey's Denim Dash help teens and young adults get treatment for mental health and substance abuse issues. Oakhill staff members want to support Mrs. Pavlisin in her endeavor, especially because promoting healthy teens is a goal at Oakhill, too!

On Saturday, nine Oakhill staff members, three current Oakhill students, two Oakhill alums, and two partners of staff members ran (or walked, or strolled) Carey's Denim Dash in support of Mrs. Pavlisin and teen mental health. It was a beautiful day, made all the more lovely by the camaraderie shared amongst the group. Many more Oakhill staff members supported Carey's Denim Dash through donations, fundraising, and other forms of support.

In a strong community, if it's important to one person, it's important to all. The bonds created by working and learning at Oakhill go beyond required hours and deeper than coworker relationships. This is The Oakhill Way!
