Fall 2025 i-Ready

 Fall 2025 i-Ready

Dear Families,

Between September 2–19, Kindergarten through 8th grade students will take the i-Ready Diagnostic in Reading and Mathematics. This computer-based, adaptive assessment, developed by Curriculum Associates, helps teachers identify each student’s strengths and areas for growth. Students complete the diagnostic three times a year (fall, winter, and spring), giving us valuable data to guide instruction and track progress.

What Does i-Ready Measure?

  • Reading: Phonological Awareness, Phonics, High-Frequency Words, Vocabulary, and Comprehension

  • Mathematics: Numbers & Operations, Algebraic Thinking, Geometry, and Measurement & Data

Because i-Ready is adaptive, the difficulty of questions will adjust as your child responds. Some questions may feel very easy, while others may seem too difficult. This is intentional, it allows the program to pinpoint the level at which your child is performing and identify the next steps in their learning journey.

How Do We Use i-Ready at Oakhill?

  • Individualized Instruction: Teachers use results to provide instruction tailored to each student’s needs.

  • Small-Group Learning: Data helps teachers group students for targeted lessons.

  • Growth Over Time: Fall, winter, and spring results help us monitor progress and celebrate growth.

  • Supporting Classroom Work: i-Ready data is combined with classroom assessments, assignments, and teacher observations to provide a complete picture of student learning.

Understanding the Results Report

Families will receive results after the winter and spring testing window. A few helpful things to know:

  • On the left side of the report, the green box shows the grade-level range, and the blue bar shows where your child scored.

  • On the right side, you’ll see your child’s overall performance level as well as domain placements in Reading or Math.

  • “Tested Out” means your child did not need a particular subtest. “Max Score” means your child achieved the highest score possible in that domain.

We encourage you to remind your child that i-Ready is not about getting every question correct, it’s about showing what they know so teachers can help them grow.
