Meet Margaret Sarver!

Meet Margaret Sarver!

Happy 2024-25 school year! It feels like just yesterday I was saying happy 2014-15 school year! In these past ten years I have transitioned from teaching PE to becoming a Division Director, bought a house, got married, and now I have two kids at Oakhill … I also have a few more gray hairs! A lot has changed since then but the message remains the same. I’m excited for another great year at Oakhill filled with friendly smiles, a warm atmosphere, exciting events, parent partnerships, and of course innovative and flexible learning. I am truly glad your family is here at Oakhill!

Although we have two buildings, one of our goals is to unify as one campus. Margaret Sarver, Intermediate and Middle School Division Director, and I are collaborating to bring unity and consistency between both buildings. I have had the pleasure of getting to know Margaret better this past year, and I am excited to work alongside her. The South Building is in great hands!

Margaret and I worked together quite a bit this summer to plan for the year, and we thought it would be fun to kick off our Acorn articles by introducing each other. Since you may not know her well, I wanted to take some time here to let you know a little about her.

1. Margaret is an absolute music junkie … She loves a variety of bands, some that I know and many that I’ve never heard of. If you step foot in her office you will definitely hear some quality music!

2. She has two college aged students, and one of her daughters was a camp counselor at Oakhill this summer! She loves her girls so much and they love her. They call her lots and keep her updated with their lives, and it was a sad day during summer camp for her daughter if they were not able to eat lunch together!

3. Margaret is our queen of editing, which makes sense with her previous experience at KC Parent Magazine. Chances are that she edited this very article! One thing is for certain, if you send something to Margaret, be sure to single space instead of double space after each period!

4. She is such a go-getter. She is such a good problem solver and tackles situations head on to find a solution. She does not hesitate if someone needs something and is quick to send an email or phone call to figure it out. Did I mention she is also a great multi-tasker? … Super jealous of that!

5. Her stories are sure to be interesting if you find yourself listening to one. Be sure to ask her about the “belt story” as well as how she learned to properly curtsey … Go on and ask her!

6. Her go to karaoke song is Frosty the Snowman. You can ask her to sing that for you at your own risk!

All jokes aside, I am very thankful to have Margaret as a fellow Division Director. We work really well together and both share an interest in supporting our teachers, students, and families to the fullest. We also put our biggest focus on helping our students to grow as people. She is approachable and transparent which makes her perfect for this role. You will hear more from her throughout the year, and don’t shy away from stopping in her office to say hello!
