Oakhill Athletics: A New Year of Opportunities for Our Student-Athletes

Oakhill Athletics: A New Year of Opportunities for Our Student-Athletes

As summer comes to a close, it’s always a bittersweet moment. The long days at the pool, road trips, and all the festivities that make summertime special are wrapping up. While we work year-round to prepare for the next school year, from the very last day of school, I knew it was truly just around the corner when school supplies started appearing at my local Target before July! (Though personally, I think June is just a little early for that… or maybe they were just being super proactive.)

That same spirit of preparation is at the heart of what we’ve been working on here at Oakhill: refining and enhancing your child’s athletic experience for the 2025-2026 school year. We are proud to continue offering a robust athletics program designed to keep students active, build teamwork, and foster school spirit.

This fall, athletics kicks off on just the third day of school with the start of Cross Country (Grades 3-8) and Girls Volleyball (Grades 5-8). Also returning this fall is Boys Flag Football (Grades 5-8), and we are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new Cheer program for Grades 4-8! Please check the athletics calendar here for exact practice dates and times for all sports.

  • Cheer will be led by Shelby Robinson, who brings years of varsity-level coaching experience to Oakhill for the program’s inaugural season.

  • Cross Country continues under the high-energy leadership of Chris Fernandez, who somehow looks like he’s racing alongside the runners at every meet, hands down the fastest coach around!

  • Girls Volleyball welcomes back Kaitlyn Lafferty, along with at least one or two additional coaches to accommodate what might be our largest girls’ volleyball roster yet!

  • Boys Flag Football returns under the guidance of Austen Hoss, who brings incredible speed (dare you to ask for a race, haha!) and a genuine passion for youth sports to the field.

The fall season will be in full swing before we know it, with practices, games, meets, tournaments, and special events like our Pack the House Night for Girls Volleyball on September 24th, an event you won’t want to miss!

And it doesn’t stop with fall. The rest of the school year will feature even more athletic opportunities including:

  • Boys Basketball

  • Girls Basketball

  • Dance

  • E-Sports

  • Girls Flag Football

  • Boys Volleyball

  • Track & Field

  • Golf

With 12 different sports offerings for Intermediate and Middle School students, there’s truly something for everyone, whether your child is trying a sport for the first time or continuing to grow their skills in an activity they love.

We can’t wait to see what this year brings for Oakhill Athletics. Let’s make it our best year yet!
