The Oakhill K-2 Run Club Takes on the Spooky Sprint

After a fun and rewarding season of training, Oakhill’s K through 2nd Grade Run Club laced up their shoes for the big event, the Spooky Sprint at the MCC Longview Campus in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

More than 20 students joined the Run Club this season as it made its return to Lower School Athletics at Oakhill. For many of our young athletes, it was their first time training for a race. The season brought plenty of challenges, especially with the unseasonably warm fall weather, but that only made their accomplishments even more impressive. Through it all, our runners learned valuable lessons about perseverance, teamwork, and facing adversity head-on.

By gradually building up their distances at practice and putting in extra effort with at-home workouts, our Panthers were more than ready for race day.

In true Spooky Sprint fashion, our runners donned their best superhero costumes and took on the course with energy and excitement. The first portion of the race was uphill, but that didn’t slow them down. Running alongside other competitors and on the open roads surrounding the campus gave many a new found energy that can only be found in competition. When it was all said and done, our runners trained hard and conquered the Spooky Sprint mile run!

Way to go, Oakhill Panthers! You’ve shown that even our youngest runners can set goals, work hard, and sprint toward success.

We can't wait to run it all back again next season!
