Last night, Oakhill Day School held its annual Spelling Bee, and what an exciting event it was! Twelve talented students competed, each demonstrating impressive focus and skill. After 2.5 hours, 20 rounds, and 111 challenging words, we proudly crowned our 2024 Spelling Bee Champion: Lucia Peterson, an 8th-grade student who spelled her way to victory! A big congratulations also goes to Andrew Devitt (4th grade) for earning the runner-up position. We wish Lucia the best of luck as she prepares for the online semifinal bee in February, sponsored by Mid-Continent Public Library.
We’re grateful to everyone who helped make the evening a success! From organizing, setting up, and officiating, to cheering on the contestants, it was a true team effort. Special thanks to Joy Jackson for her precision as the word pronouncer and to our wonderful panel of judges and support team. Each of you contributed to creating an unforgettable night for our students and their families.
Please join us in congratulating Lucia, Andrew, and all of our Spelling Bee participants for their hard work and determination!
