Let the Games Be Drawn!

Let the Games Be Drawn!

The Summer Olympics and Paralympics may be over, but our enjoyment of them has not stopped yet! 6th, 7th, and 8th graders used the Olympics as inspiration for three movement-themed art projects.

Sixth Grade: Abstract Olympic Rings

Sixth grade students drew the intertwining Olympic rings. Next, they used overlapping lines to create sections of abstract shapes and painted the shapes with watercolors.

Seventh Grade: Summer Olympic Sports

7th grade students drew silhouettes of athletes performing a summer Olympic sport. Then, they painted tints using one color and white to create different values, giving an effect of motion.

Eighth Grade: Op Art

8th graders drew white silhouettes of Olympic athletes in motion, then drew curving lines in the background to create an Op Art effect. They used a chosen color scheme to suggest movement.
