PE Students are Good Sports

PE Students are Good Sports

It has been a great start to the year in our Middle School Physical Education classes. We began the year with some team building games and activities. Following our team building games and activities we moved into some of our sport units and other fun activities.

Our first sport unit of the year was volleyball. We began the unit focusing on the skills of volleyball; serving, bump passes, and set passes. Students also learned the rules of the game, along with how to rotate around the court in the correct manner. The students did a great job and displayed great improvement throughout the unit. The last couple days of our volleyball unit the students played some modified volleyball games to put the skills they learned into a game-like setting. Following our volleyball unit we moved right into football.

Throughout our football unit students worked on developing their throwing and catching skills, along with learning the rules of the games. It was fun to see each student's skills improve throughout the unit in the fun games we played. One of the fun games we played that the students seemed to really enjoy was Ultimate Football-Handball style. In this game students had to work as a team to move the ball up and down the field. The major focus of the game is throwing, catching, and working as a team. All the skills involved in football were put to the test in this activity. We wrapped up our football unit playing some 2-hand touch football games out on the North Field.

In the middle of our sports unit days (Tuesdays/Thursdays) students have been busy playing some fun PE games they enjoy: Legends, Pinball Soccer, Ultimate Football-Handball Style, Capture the Objects, Dodgeball, Paddleball, etc. With Halloween coming we have begun mixing in some fun halloween themed games and activities. Following Halloween, we will be moving into our soccer unit!
