As part of Oakhill’s mission to bring globalization awareness to its students, the eighth grade class took a field trip to B’nai Jehudah Synagogue to kick off the study of Night, a book about the Holocaust. This real world experience brought awareness and understanding of the author’s (Elie Wiesel) life, belief, and background. The synagogue’s museum curators did an awesome job of teaching and discussing Jewish history, arts, culture, and religion. Oakhill provides a welcoming environment for all families, and field trips such as this allows for respectful conversations about what each person brings to our community.
