Welcome to the Year of the Snake!

Welcome to the Year of the Snake!

Happy New Year! Although we celebrated our new year a few weeks ago, the eighth grade students in Señora WalkerHolmes' Global Thread classes have been studying and researching about the Lunar New Year and why it is an important holiday in Asian culture. Señora WalkerHolmes’ vision for teaching cultural understanding and diversity to Oakhill students was on display recently as the Global Thread students presented their facts and findings about the significance of the Lunar New Year to a captivated audience of 2nd-5th grade students. In collaboration with Ms. Grace Chen (mother of alumni Jaiden, Andy, and Carson) and the Chinese School of Greater Kansas City, cultural dress, food, and folktales were just some of the topics shared during the presentation. Thank you, eighth graders, for showcasing your love of learning and embracing the Oakhill experience.
