Fifth Graders "Treasure" Field Trip to Museum

Our fifth-grade class had the opportunity to take a trip into the past with an actual field trip to the Arabia Steamboat Museum last November. Students have been studying the Industrial Revolution and the museum provided a great opportunity to learn more about the inventions from that period and the impact of those inventions by visiting our very own local resource. The Arabia Steamboat houses a fascinating time capsule of frontier life in the 1800s.  Students were able to learn more detailed information about the history of the steamboat as well as view dishware, clothing, and even bottled food preserved in remarkable condition as part of the "treasures" saved from the cargo. It was a day filled with history lessons, stories about the Arabia Steamboat, and how a group of friends completed the adventure of a lifetime!
