We All Wish for World Peace, but Fifth Grade is Working for It!

Fifth grade is back at it again! They are trying to solve the crises in our World Peace Games. This is done each year in Spanish class with Señora WalkerHolmes. The students are broken into nations and are trying to do this in the safest way possible, trying to avoid using the military, if at all possible. While doing this, the students will examine environmental, social, and economic issues in these nations.

Fifth graders are assigned roles not only on a national level, but some have a role at an international level. All of their roles allow the students to think critically about the impacts of their choices in their nations. They need to work cooperatively and maintain an open mind while solving global issues. The students negotiate treaties within nations and have to be strategic to think about how it will affect and/or benefit their nation. Will fifth grade be able to solve world peace? Stay tuned… and check out photos here!
