Busy Bees Come to Visit

Busy Bees Come to Visit

It was all a buzz in kindergarten this week! On April 23 the kindergarten classes hosted Cory and Katie Alsip, owners of Alsip Acres Honey and parents of Hailey and Dylan Alsip. They brought with them not only knowledge and delicious honey samples, but also the honey makers themselves, honey bees!

Did you know there is a difference between spring and winter honey? Have you ever seen a bee do the waggle dance? Can you imagine what 10,000 bees look like up close? These are just some of the amazing questions that were answered when Mr. and Mrs. Alsip came to share about their bee farm.

The children learned about how happy bees make tasty honey! They also enjoyed learning about the beekeeper suit and how to be safe around honeybees. They marveled at the honeycomb with honey inside. Taste testing was a favorite part of the visit. Creamed honey was definitely a favorite.

We always appreciate partnering with parents. Thank you, Katie and Cory, for sharing your love of bees, your business, and your hearts with us. We appreciate your time, talent, and teaching as we learn to love nature, especially our helper friends, the bees!
