I love Halloween—the costumes, the decorations, trick-or-treating, and especially the CANDY (chocolates, please!). But I almost forgot Halloween was this week—I’ve been having SO much fun FUNdraising! Wednesday’s call-a-thon to connect with families who hadn’t yet given was incredibly fun, exciting, and rewarding!
With a $50,000 match from the Perkins family on the line for October … we HIT it! Thanks to our amazing community, we raised an additional $61,121 to bring our total to $111,121 for October alone. And here’s a treat—$29,645 of that was raised in just 24 hours after the call-a-thon!
As of today, no tricks—all treats—we’ve reached $181,920! Yes, we've reached our halfway point, but we’re not done yet. We still have a ways to go to meet our $350,000 goal, and I know momentum (and generosity) are contagious. Giving makes a real impact, feels great, and inspires others to give.
Here’s another treat: two generous families have come together to offer another $50,000 match for November! If we meet this challenge, we’ll be at $281,920 by month’s end. A huge thank-you to those families for setting up this new opportunity! If you haven’t yet given to the Mighty Oak Fund, now is the perfect time to double your impact.
Reflecting on the call-a-thon, I’m proud of the gratitude families shared for Oakhill’s academics and community. Some standout stats from Wednesday:
- 34% of Current Oakhill families have given to the Mighty Oak Fund so far
- Out of 1,173 potential donors (current parents, alumni, alumni families, grandparents, and friends of Oakhill), all gifts to date have come from just 146 donors, 47 of whom are ODS staff!
These numbers tell me two things:
- We have a powerful community capable of making amazing things happen.
- If even half of our potential donors make a gift, of any size, we’ll meet our $350,000 goal!
As November approaches, a time of traditions, gratitude, and reflection, I want you to know how grateful I am for YOU—for your generosity and belief in Oakhill. I especially love reading the stories shared by our Mighty Oak Fund Chairs and Divisional Chairs, as they remind us all why we do what we do, and the difference it makes each day.
