Meet Mrs. Smith- Our New Intermediate & Middle School Music Teacher

We are excited to introduce you to our new Intermediate and Middle School Music teacher, Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Smith is so excited to work at Oakhill, a school that values and supports the arts, and that allows smaller class sizes for her to work more with her students. She previously worked in Hamilton, MO as a K-12 Music Teacher. Her hope is to bring a fun learning environment to her students and to help them gain musical skills and self-confidence. What position did you hold prior to this current position?

I was the K-12 Music Teacher in Hamilton, MO

What made you interested in this new career opportunity?

I wanted to focus on a smaller number of students.

What do you hope to bring to this position and/or your students?

I hope to bring a fun and great learning environment for students to grow their musical skills and personal confidence.

What excites you about this new position?

I’m so excited to work at Oakhill. It has such a family atmosphere and the school supports the arts!

What led you to education?

I love when students have the “Ah-Ha” moment. As a teacher, this happens daily!

What is your favorite memory of school from when you were a child?

My favorite memory of school was performing in musicals.

How did you get ready/prepare for your first day of school at Oakhill Day School?

I spent an ample amount of time preparing for teaching students about the Oakhill way and how to be good citizens.
