Mrs. Cole's New Roles at Oakhill Day School

We are excited to tell you all about Mrs. Cole's new role at Oakhill. Mrs. Cole is teaching Prekindergarten STEM and co-teaching Kindergarten science with Mrs. Thompson this year. She has a passion for science and years of experience as a specialists teacher and we are so lucky to have her in this new role this year.

What position did you hold prior to this current position?

Last year I taught Preschool and Prekindergarten library.

What made you interested in this new career opportunity?

This year I am teaching Prekindergarten STEM and co-teaching Kindergarten science with Mrs. Thompson.

What do you hope to bring to this position and/or your students?

Children at this age are so curious. I love to help them explore, investigate, and learn about the world around them!

What excites you about this new position?

I taught science as a classroom teacher and as a specialist for over 30 years, so this position allows me to continue pursuing my passion for science.

What led you to education?

I want students to get excited about science by doing hands-on activities and experiments each week to help them understand concepts.

What is your favorite memory of school from when you were a child?

My favorite memory of school is getting to do actual experiments in high school biology. Science up until then was reading chapters in our textbook and answering questions at the end of the chapter.

How did you get ready/prepare for your first day of school at Oakhill Day School?

To get ready for the first day of school, I did all the experiments at home. I love doing science at school and home!
