Ms. Ferris New Role at Oakhill Day School

Ms. Ferris

We are excited to tell you about Ms. Ferris's new role at Oakhill. Having worked at Oakhill for 21 years, she knew she wanted to stay involved in the Oakhill community and give back in any way she can. She has taken on a new role as our part time Community Engagement Liason. We are so happy that Ms. Ferris is still part of Oakhill.

What position did you hold prior to this current position?

This is my 22 years at ODS.  I  have taught early learners and preschool.

What made you interested in this new career opportunity?

I retired from teaching but I still wanted to stay connected to ODS. My new role will be part time Community Engagement Liason. This allows me to keep connected with the Oakhill community and our families.

What do you hope to bring to this position and/or your students?

My goal is to try and get more people involved with Oakhill, including but not limited to being volunteers. With getting them more involved, I know it will help everyone to feel more connected.

What excites you about this new position?

I am still allowed to be part of Oakihill, which allows me to continue to be connected with the students and their families.

What led you to education?

From a very young age, I always wanted to be a nun. I attended catholic schools and I always wanted to be a nun/teacher.

What is your favorite memory of school from when you were a child?

Having such great teachers and nuns as role models. They were always willing to help me and be there for me when I needed it.

How did you get ready/prepare for your first day of school at Oakhill Day School this year?

I prepared myself to come in with an open mind and to tell myself I can do hard things,  and that I’ve got this.Together it will all work out. I continued to tell myself to try to embrace all the new areas, and know that I can and will make it work!
