Election Time!

Election Time!

In a recent lesson, Second Graders took action in a voting process by electing a class representative for Student Council (Stuco). They learned about the importance of private ballots, using voting booths to emphasize real elections. This activity ties into their Social Studies unit on levels of government, covering roles such as mayor, governor, and president, all of which they learned requires voters ages 18 and older. The class discussed how voting is not only a right but also a personal decision, understanding the value of having open conversations with their classmates and their family members about the levels of government and how it runs. This hands-on experience helped and will continue to help students appreciate and value the life skills that they will encounter by participating in a democracy while respecting their honest opinions by keeping their choices to themselves.

Below are a few pictures of the 2nd Graders participating in their first voting process. They are excited for their next election!
