In 7th grade Science, students are getting started with our Future City Projects. Oakhill students participate in The Future City Competition along with middle schoolers from across the US, Canada, China, and Nigeria! Future City taps into students' STEM skills, along with their teamwork, planning, and creativity skills.
Teams of 3 to 4 will design cities 100 years in the future fulfilling this year's theme: Above the Current (so their city must be floating on top of the water). They have started learning about parts of the city and important terms to know. Students practiced this with a zoning activity and are now setting some goals and creating a schedule for their own projects. This week groups will be starting their research and drafting of their city essays.
