Da Vinci Would Be Proud

7th grade students explored the Renaissance period through a creative and hands-on project that blended history and technology. Ms. Robinson and Mrs. Verwers teamed up to help students learn about this time period by studying famous works of art or historical figures and then turning their research into creative and informative videos.

In Social Studies, students chose a Renaissance masterpiece to research, learning about how it was created, its significance, and its impact. Alternatively, some selected an influential historical figure to study, focusing on their achievements, significance, and contributions to the Renaissance. Then, in the Innovation Lab, they used their iPads and a variety of digital tools to transform their research and findings into videos. These videos featured a mix of animations, voiceovers, special effects and live-action scenes to tell the story of the artwork or person and their significant place in history.

This project allowed our students to connect with history in a unique way while building skills in research, storytelling, and digital media. We love how they creatively brought the Renaissance to life. Their films will debut at the Fine Arts Festival on Wednesday, April 16th - you won't want to miss them!
