Seventh Grade City Planners

Seventh Grade City Planners

Last semester, we shared about the Future City projects 7th graders are doing in Science. To recap, teams of 3 to 4 students designed cities 100 years in the future fulfilling this year's theme: Above the Current (so their city must be floating on top of the water).

Last weekend, two Future City groups got to present their projects at the Future City competition in Topeka! The two teams, Aqua City and Springbrook, had a great time. They got to present their projects to two groups of judges (engineer volunteers) and learn a lot by talking with and seeing the creations of the other groups. It was good practice in public speaking and learning more about the different types of engineers.

Below are pictures of our groups presenting!  You can also click here to see some of the models created by other groups that were on display in the gym.

Evie, Emery, and Abigail answer the judges' questions about their city,

Emma, Luke, and Reese present their city, , to the judges at the competition.
