Global Thread Extends to Fourth and Sixth Grade

For several years, 8th graders have gotten to learn about our world--cultures, environment, societies, and more--through the Global Thread class taught by Señora WalkerHolmes. This year, the class has been extended to 4th and 6th grades!

For one week a month, Spanish class broadens into Global Thread class. The first sessions of Global Thread with 4th and 6th grades were a success and these drawings share a bit of what they focused on.

6th graders talked about the ME the World Sees and the World I See. Sometimes these things or characteristics are similar and sometimes there is a lot more going on that no one knows about. All of it is important to our sense of self. The students created head to toe drawings of themselves and, folding the paper in half, designated one half WHAT THE WORLD SEES and the other half WHAT I SEE. They then listed, drew, shared qualities or things on both sides.

The 4th graders drew their head to toe pictures and focused on the things in life that bring them joy, that they like to do or participate in, what makes them who they are, the one and only 'them'.

The artwork is posted in the north hallway of the South Building, as well as in the Spanish room! Come check out what makes the 4th and 6th graders who they are!
