Oakhill Day School proudly welcomed its newest National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) members during a special induction ceremony on November 22, 2024. Eight outstanding middle school students were honored for their commitment to NJHS's five pillars: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Citizenship, and Character. These values align perfectly with Oakhill's mission to inspire and challenge students to be their best selves.
Middle school division director Margaret Sarver shared words of wisdom with the inductees, encouraging them to embrace challenges and make a positive impact. "Be the rainbow in the storm of life," she said. "Accept every struggle with grace, live fully engaged, and rest assured that the view at the journey’s end will be spectacular."
The ceremony included a candle-lighting presentation by current NJHS members, with each candle representing one of the NJHS pillars. The inductees also recited the NJHS pledge, officially joining this distinguished group of student leaders.
NJHS Chapter President Alex Tomeldan reflected on the chapter's history of meaningful service projects, including past contributions to Don Bosco, Happy Bottoms, and A Turning Point. He also shared words of encouragement for the new members as they step into leadership roles.
