Row, Pull, or Float Your Boat, Gently Down the Swim Lane!

Row, Pull, or Float Your Boat, Gently Down the Swim Lane!

The Second Annual Cardboard Regatta was a great success! Each Middle School Homeroom designed, built, and decorated a boat out of cardboard. The challenge? First, make sure it floats. Second, make sure it floats with Mr. Verwers in it! And third, see how far down the swim lane Mr. Verwers can go in the boat.

All six boats floated effectively, and the five boats who could hold Mr. Verwers ALSO could hold him all the way down the 25-yard swim lane! The 7th and 8th graders used a paddle strategy, while the 6th graders used a string-and-pulley strategy. In addition to points for distance floated, the Homerooms received points for boat design, sportsmanship, and team theme!

You can check out all of the photos of the fun here, as well as some below! Some of these students may just become boat engineers!
