Building with Base Ten Blocks: Multisensory Math & Number Sense
(Incoming 2nd–3rd Grade)
Session 1: June 1- June 26
This small group focuses on strengthening foundational math skills through a structured, hands-on multisensory approach using base ten blocks and visual models. Students will build a deep conceptual understanding of numbers, helping them understand the “why” behind the math—not just the procedures.
Through hands-on manipulatives, visual models, and guided practice, students will develop confidence, accuracy, and strong number sense while strengthening key math skills needed for the next grade level.
Students will build skills in:
- Place value understanding
- Addition and subtraction strategies
- Regrouping and number composition
- Math fact fluency and accuracy
- Problem solving and mathematical reasoning
Through hands-on manipulatives, visual models, and guided practice, students will develop conceptual understanding, confidence, and automaticity with foundational math skills. Build it, Write it, Say it!
This group helps students build confidence, strengthen number sense, and develop a deeper understanding of mathematics in a supportive small-group environment.
