What's a Bubble?

Toddler students learning what a bubble is from Mrs. Cole

This week in science, our toddler scientists popped into the fascinating world of bubbles! We explored the big question: What actually is a bubble? The children discovered that bubbles are made of air wrapped in a thin skin of water, soap, and a tiny bit of sugar. We experimented with star- and heart-shaped wands and were amazed to learn that no matter the shape of the wand, bubbles always push out equally in all directions to form a sphere!

To wrap up our investigation, we tested catching bubbles with our bare hands versus wearing a special soft glove. The kids loved discovering the secret: our bare hands have tiny bits of dirt, natural oils, and texture that instantly pop a bubble, but a soft glove acts as a cushion so we can catch and bounce them!
