Mighty Oak Fund Priorities

Oakhill Day School focuses its fundraising efforts on three key areas:

The Mighty Oak Fund:
This year, funds from Giving Tuesday and Acorn Day will support the Mighty Oak Fund.
Special Events/Sponsorships:
Sponsorships will address critical needs, from the Auction to daily campus necessities. Auction proceeds will benefit Faculty Development, Tuition Assistance, and Scholarships.
Capital Improvement Projects:
We’re continuing our efforts to enhance our campus with additional bathrooms, an entry lobby, and a second gymnasium.

Planned Giving

Leave behind a gift that could last for generations to come. By making Oakhill Day School a beneficiary as part of estate planning, that gift will provide the school monetary means to address key priorities for Oakhill students of today, and those of tomorrow.

QCD's/RMD's

Seniors aged 70 ½ and older can use QCDs to donate directly from their traditional Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) to eligible charities. This strategy provides two main benefits:

Standard Deduction: Seniors can take advantage of the larger standard deduction.
Taxable Income Reduction: The amount donated through a QCD is excluded from taxable income, which can effectively reduce the overall tax burden.

This approach allows seniors to lower their taxable income while still benefiting from the standard deduction, providing a tax-efficient way to support charitable organizations.

Getting Started with QCDs

Eligibility: You must be at least 70 ½ years old.
Donation Limits: You can donate up to $100,000 of IRA funds per year.
Charitable Criteria: Donations must go to 501(c)(3) charitable organizations like Oakhill, and funds must be transferred directly from your IRA to the charity.
Timing: Start your QCDs in January to include them in your required withdrawal.
Tracking: Ensure the charity receives your donation and get a tax acknowledgment letter for donations of $250 or more.
Tax Reporting: Keep accurate records and report your QCDs on your tax return.
